Embrace the legacy, celebrate the history, and pay respect to the remarkable aircraft that patrolled the skies and captured the hearts of a nation; the Avro Canada CF-100 Canuck.
Canadian Aviation took a significant world leadership in the 1950ties with rapid advancement in design and production at the Avro Canada (A.V. Roe Company) plant in Malton, Ontario. For the first time in the early 1950ties and Canada’s aviation history, aircraft engines were being manufactured alongside the aircraft in which they were used.
The Mark 1 and Mark II prototypes of the Avro Canada CF-100 Canuck shaped up to be the most versatile combat planes developed since WWII. It was significant that the first all-Canadian aircraft of the post war period, was an all-weather jet fighter with exceptional long range, fire power, manoeuvrability and rate of climb - Plus Transonic Speed.

Paying homage to the ingenuity of Canadian Aviation Manufacturing directs us to the forerunner of the infamous Arvo Arrow. The design team cut their teeth on the CF-100, establishing Canada with world leading original concepts and production in the aviation manufacturing industry. It led a long and spectacular history of Canada’s first all-weather fighter designed and built by Canadians.

The influence of the Canuck CF-100 extended beyond the airfields. Its iconic shape and role in national defence became embedded in Canadian culture. The sleek silhouette of the aircraft found its way into art, literature, and even popular media, leaving an indelible mark on the Canadian identity. The Canuck CF-100 became more than a military asset; it became a symbol of reliability and strength, embodying values Canadians hold close.
With so many unique features of the Avro CF-100 Canuck and Orenda Jet Engines sculpting the future of turbine powered aircraft in the early 50ties, we had a lot to be inspired by.
From the Prototype Lightning Bolt and the Avro Canada Logo, to the "Clunk's" nose that housed an intricate radar system, the Canuck Pilot Watch combines some of the best aspects of the aircraft's visual image.

Powered by your movement, the Swiss made Sellita SW200-1 is a workhorse that is tried and tested in a number of heavy hitters including Oris, Apina and Christopher Ward. The manufacturer originally produced the ETA 2824 movements (now owned Swatch brand) before launching their own hand assembled movements with traditional Swiss Quality, from La Chaux-de-Fonds.
This is an incredible movement at a price point other brands only match with Japanese quartz. You won't be disappointed with this deluxe movement.
The Whitby Canuck is an easy-wearing watch with significant wrist presence, despite its lightweight construction. The thick Italian leather strap looks great against the blasted titanium finish and really helps the timepiece play its part as a traditional Flieger. The brand has done good work, nonetheless, to differentiate the watch from other pilot-style timepieces and commemorate the history of the CF-100, with its deep dial and particular styling elements.
Its rugged construction and robust water resistance make it a solid toolwatch, and the Swiss movement on the inside is reliable and precise. Final assembly of the watch takes place in Canada, where it is designed.
